Renee's Vision for the Collection
Our leadership collection creates a human-to-human connection by highlighting everyday community leaders and showing that leadership is both attainable and meaningful. Unlike most conventional leadership books, we showcase lesser-known leaders whose everyday actions improve our workplaces, communities, and families. We bring leadership theory to life by sharing the stories of small business owners, nonprofit and faith leaders, and mission-driven changemakers. Our books highlight the journeys, struggles and accomplishments of these leaders by sharing their unique identity and experiences. With each book, readers uncover tangible lessons about life, relationship building, goal achievement, teamwork and resilience.
We hope our collection inspires readers to see themselves in the stories of leaders. For this reason, we share stories of young leaders as well as those who stepped into leadership for the first time in their retirement years. Our leaders often come from diverse educational backgrounds and life experiences, and may not be widely recognized beyond their immediate circles. However, their impacts are meaningful and their stories realistic, relevant and relatable.
The Lived Places Publishing Leadership Collection seeks authors from any discipline who aim to share these sorts of stories, anecdotes and lessons about leadership. We welcome stories from those with or without formal titles or authority, and are looking for books about leadership within the home, workplace, community, volunteer and/or faith settings. Authors may bring their own stories and/or include interviews with leaders in their community, so long as the stories are deeply connected to the lived experience of everyday leaders. Historical anecdotes that align with our vision are also welcome.
As collection editor, I am available to help brainstorm, collaborate and support authors through the process of crafting and publishing their manuscript. If an author thrives on collaboration, I’m here to support and co-create. If they prefer to work independently, I’ll offer feedback in whatever way best serves their process and book. If you’re unsure whether your idea aligns with the vision for this series, feel free to reach out to me before submitting a proposal.
