Across the broad fields of professional studies, humanities, arts, and social sciences, researchers and practitioners explore the significance of lived experience and the way identities are always, in practical terms, intersectional. Put simply, humans experience a constellation of identities in the context of unique lived experience. The goal of the Intersectional Lived Experience Conference is to bring together in one forum researchers and practitioners focused on both the theoretical and the practical aspects of lived experience. Imagine a panel with scholars and practitioners from social work, disability studies, the arts, education, queer and LGBT+ studies, Black studies, and gender studies (to name but a few!) coming together around critical societal questions of the day.
Conference Mission: The mission of this conference is to broaden and deepen interdisciplinary research and provide a forum for researchers, practitioners, and consultants to come together to produce new insights that expand our collective understanding of one another.
Submissions: We are looking for presentations, infographics, and panels that reflect the conference theme and expand our understanding of lived experience in interdisciplinary fields. We are open to all methods and styles of communication that expand and amplify the dialogue around intersectionality and what it means to be human in our current zeitgeist.
Submission Guidelines: Send a 100-200 word abstract in PDF format, and name your file LASTNAME_2026LPP.pdf
The abstract should include your name, institution, or company. All abstracts will be blind-reviewed. Accepted abstracts will be published in our Proceedings. We must receive your abstract no later than August 1, 2026 in order to be considered. If you wish to submit a proposal for a panel discussion – or for any other questions – please contact the conference Executive Director Dr. Joseph H. Hancock II: Email Dr. Hancock.
